Kiwanis STAR club is a singular focused club to create awareness amongst our young people about Child Sex Trafficking and contributing to prevention through education resources, interruption through sponsoring law enforcement resource, and rehabilitation of trafficked children through housing, counseling education and employment resources.

Currently, the Kiwanis Star Club is working with the following organizations to fulfill our vision:

3 Strands Global Foundation

https://www.3strandsglobalfoundation.org

Their Vision – A world FREE from human trafficking.

Their Mission – We mobilize communities to combat human trafficking through prevention education and reintegration programs.

From their website: 3Strands Global Foundation was founded in response to an event that shook a small, tight-knit California community. A young girl was trafficked for 8 days before she was recovered by law enforcement. This would later spark the creation of PROTECT prevention education, which has gone on to educate hundreds of thousands of students on how to stay safe from human trafficking.

The 3SGF team then recognized that there needed to be more resources available to survivors and those who face barriers to sustainable economic opportunities. With this in mind, 3SGF launched the Employ + Empower program, which has helped support and economically empower hundreds of individuals.

Thorn

https://www.thorn.org

We build technology to defend children from sexual abuse.

From their website: In 2014, after our team prototyped a product to aid in identifying child sex trafficking victims who were sold online, we made the decision to develop the product itself and provide it free to law enforcement. This approach broke open the new model for us — one that moved beyond innovation to include productization and rapid scale, bypassing existing bureaucratic structures that often hamper access, data sharing, and collaboration.

We now house the first engineering and data science team focused solely on developing new technologies to combat online child sexual abuse. We bring together a team with deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise to innovate and deploy new technology solutions at a much faster rate. We are able to quickly assess whether new technologies can be repurposed to protect children from sexual exploitation through one of our three strategic pillars: 1) accelerating victim identification 2) equipping platforms, and 3) empowering the public.

Olive Foundation

https://olivemadera.com

OLIVE is a local non-profit that helps victims of human sex trafficking.

From their website: Olive Charitable Organization was founded by law enforcement in 2015 when Chief Dan Foss saw a gap in resources for people experiencing human sex trafficking. We strive to fill this gap by providing supportive services to these individuals. In February of 2021, we opened our much needed safe house. The Bennett House serves women over the age of 18 which includes safe housing, case management and victim advocacy. We are here to serve each person that comes to us for help as an individual with personal needs. Our services are personalized in that each tenant can create their own recovery plan. Our case manager works one on one with each person to create a safe and secure environment and assists with maintaining personal goals.

We are always looking for new organizations to partner with. Please reach out to [email protected] with information about your organization.
